Patient Experience
Our 8-year-old, Aarav, was so scared when we first came to Apollo. He had this lump, and we were terrified. Dr. Rajkumar got down on his level, talked to him about superheroes before even looking at the chart. He explained everything to us in our language, never rushed us even when we asked the same thing three times. The waiting room was packed, and we had a long day, but he made Aarav feel brave. He’s starting treatment now, and we finally feel like we have someone fighting with us.
Had a persistent cough for months. My GP referred me to Apollo Cancer Centre. Saw Dr. Rajkumar. He ordered a scan, found a shadow. He laid out the options clearly: surgery, then maybe radiation. No sugar-coating. Asked my opinion. Started treatment the following week. It’s straightforward. He’s direct, which is what I needed. Parking at the centre is a nightmare, though.
I was quite nervous about seeing an oncologist. The word itself is frightening. But Dr. Rajkumar has a very calm way about him. He listened so patiently to all my worries, even the small, silly ones. He never made me feel like I was taking up too much time. His explanations were gentle but clear. The whole process is daunting, but having him guide us has made it feel a little less heavy. We are very grateful.
After three opinions, we finally met Dr. Rajkumar! What a difference. He actually looked at ALL my previous scans himself, spotted something others missed. He was so confident about the plan, it was like a weight lifted. My family and I left feeling hopeful for the first time in months. The hospital cafeteria coffee is terrible, but who cares? We’ve got a doctor who knows his stuff!
