Patient Experience
Had my gallbladder out with Dr. Gemalmaz last month. The first few days were rough, I won't lie, but his team had a clear plan for the pain that actually worked. He called to check on me himself the day after I got home, which was a nice surprise. I'm back at work now and feeling more like myself every day.
Our 8-year-old son had appendicitis and we were terrified. Dr. Hüseyin was so calm and explained everything to us, and even more importantly, to our son, in a way that didn't scare him. He held my son's hand while they gave him the anesthesia. Seeing a surgeon take that extra minute to comfort a scared kid meant more than any medical degree ever could. We left the hospital feeling like we'd left him in the hands of family.
Saw Dr. Gemalmaz for a hernia. Fixed it. No fuss, no drama. He told me what was wrong, what he was gonna do, and then he did it. Parking at Emsey was a nightmare, but the actual care was straightforward and good.
I'd been putting off this surgery for years, just nervous about the whole thing. From the first consult, Dr. Gemalmaz didn't rush me. He drew a little diagram on a notepad to show exactly what he'd do. The day of, I was so anxious my hands were shaking, but the anesthesiologist cracked a joke and Dr. Gemalmaz just gave a firm, confident nod before we went in. That nod stuck with me. Waking up, the nurse said he'd already been out to tell my husband it all went smoothly. The follow-up was quick, in, check the stitches, out, but he remembered the small detail about my job and asked if lifting would be an issue. It felt like he saw me as a person, not just a procedure.
