Patient Experience
Had my gallbladder out at Anadolu Medical Center. Dr. Akkar was straight with me about the recovery. The first couple days were rough, I won't lie, but his team had a clear plan for the pain that actually worked. He checked on me every morning, adjusted things when I needed it, and I felt like I was in control. Left the hospital walking, which I was worried about.
My mother was admitted with a severe infection. We were all really scared. Dr. Akkar called me himself after the first round of tests to explain what was happening in a way I could understand. He didn't sugarcoat it, but he was calm. He gave me his direct number and answered every single one of my panicked texts, even late. He treated her, and us, with real kindness. We got our mom back.
Saw Dr. Akkar for a persistent stomach issue others brushed off. He listened, ordered the right scan, found the problem. Fixed it. No nonsense, very competent. Parking at the hospital is always a hassle, but he's worth it.
I went in for what I thought was just bad heartburn. Dr. Akkar has this way of asking questions, he dug a little deeper, got my full history. He looked concerned and said, 'I don't think this is your stomach. Let's check your heart, just to be safe.' I was nervous, thought he was overreacting. Turns out, it was a minor heart issue. He caught it early. The whole thing, from his hunch to the cardiology referral at the same center, felt seamless. He called me with the results himself and explained exactly what the next steps were. That bit of extra attention made a scary situation much easier to handle.
