Patient Experience
I'd been to a couple of doctors for this nagging abdominal pain, and everyone just said it was stress. Dr. Sourav Kundu actually listened. He asked questions about things no one else had, like my family history and some weird symptoms I thought were unrelated. He ordered a specific scan, and it turned out to be a rare type of hernia. Completely different from what I was told. He explained it all with a diagram on his notepad, and the surgery he recommended fixed it. I finally feel normal.
Had to get my gallbladder out. Honestly, I was nervous at first because, you know, surgery. But Dr. Kundu made it feel straightforward. He walked me through the whole laparoscopic process, didn't rush my questions, and the actual procedure was smooth. I was in and out of Manipal in a couple of days. Recovery was exactly as he said it would be a bit sore, but manageable. It just went like clockwork.
The hospital itself was a nice surprise. I had to wait a bit for my appointment, but the receptionists were really kind about it. The place is clean and doesn't feel as intimidating as some hospitals. One nurse in particular, when she saw I was alone, checked on me a few extra times and even helped me figure out the cafeteria. It's those little things that make a difference. Dr. Kundu was great, but the whole team there made a stressful day easier.
What stuck with me most about Dr. Kundu was how he talks to you. He doesn't just talk at you. I came in worried about a lump, and he could tell I was scared. He sat down, made eye contact, and said, 'Let's figure this out together.' He has this calm way of explaining things without using scary medical jargon. He even cracked a small joke to lighten the mood. You feel like a person, not just a case file.
