An alumnus of King George’s Medical University (KGMC), Lucknow, Dr. Chandra holds an MD in Medicine and a DM in Cardiology. Over the years, he has held leadership roles at major institutions, including Director of Cardiac Cath Lab and Acute MI Services at Max Healthcare, and served as a senior consultant at the Escorts Heart Institute in New Delhi.
Recognized for his pioneering efforts in promoting interventional cardiology in India since the late 1990s, Dr. Chandra has been an influential figure in both national and global cardiology circles. He has participated in and chaired major international conferences and was the driving force behind the AMI (Acute Myocardial Infarction) Course, held in New Delhi across several years. His academic contributions include over 100 publications in reputed cardiology journals.
Dr. Chandra is a Fellow of leading global and regional cardiology societies such as the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), the European Society of Cardiology, and the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology. He is also a distinguished member of the Cardiological Society of India.
In recognition of his outstanding service in cardiac healthcare, Dr. Praveen Chandra was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2016.
