Dr. Tejinder Kataria

Dr. Tejinder Kataria is a distinguished radiation oncologist and a key figure in the evolution of cancer treatment in India. Since joining the Medanta Cancer Institute in October 2009, she has been at the forefront of establishing and leading the Department of Radiation Oncology, transforming it into a center of excellence for integrated and precision-based cancer care.

Under her leadership, Medanta became the first institution in India to implement cutting-edge technologies like the Infinity Linear Accelerator with Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT) and Synergy-S systems featuring beam modulators and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). She also helped commission a state-of-the-art brachytherapy suite from Nucletron, equipped for both high-dose and low-dose rate treatments, making the facility one of the most comprehensive in the country.

Dr. Kataria’s expertise lies in advanced radiotherapy techniques such as stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), and 3D conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT). She has been instrumental in integrating imaging technologies like PET-CT, MRI, SPECT, and DSA for more accurate tumor targeting and personalized treatment planning.

Before her tenure at Medanta, Dr. Kataria was pivotal in establishing departments of radiation oncology at both Artemis Health Institute (2007) and Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute (1996). Her groundbreaking contributions have earned her several accolades, including the National Education Scholarship, the National Excellence Award for humanitarian efforts in cancer care, and the International Health Professional of the Year recognition for her outstanding service in radiation oncology.
